2011 is a very important year in the bigger picture. Its been 4 years since I came to the US and this year could pretty much take me up to the next level.
1. Project 6-pack is on track. I should continue gymming and try and complete this my mid-March. That should be ideal if my trip to India materializes. If this is tough to accomplish, then this needs to be done definitely before mid May when cricket season starts. Fitness is going to be vital especially if I get back to fast bowling and even for batting.
2. I have been lagging behind at work. It is important to be uncompromising and relentless at work. I should try and get the most of it for the time that I am here.
3. I gotto apply for jobs to top of the line companies - Microsoft, Apple or Google. Facebook seems to be pretty tempting. Unfortunately, my once-upon-a-dream company Intel wont pay much. Another reason to get 6-pack done ASAP. It'll always help make a good first impression and the sooner I am done with the harder work, I can start preparing for interviews. Pursuit of excellence is relentless and uncompromising. So I should be tough mentally to accomplish this.
4. Success in cricket is a very important aspect of satisfaction right now. Being good at cricket offers several indirect priveledges. If you are good and tough in cricket, you automatically earn the respect of your peers and gives you good social contacts and networking opportunities not to mention my own self satisfaction. This year, if I sitll play in the MCA, I should top the runs and wickets for my team and if I open the batting, I should be in th top 3. I should score a 100 ASAP. I should continue working on the doosra delivery as well as the carrom ball as mostly I'll continue bowling spin even if it is for the MCA. That could very well be the key to my success this year to top the wickets standing. As far as runs go, my improved fitness could be a very important factor. Its also important to remain confident, positive and intense at the same time without ever loosing track of that burning ambition to succeed. That alone could be the difference between success and just a moderate season.
I should also get myself an awesome kit without compromising on anything. Ideally I should pick everything after careful research.
5. A trip to India has been on the cards for a long time now. If I go back home, I should definitely make the most of it. Spend quality time in different places and take pictures. A visit to the Ganges is something I've been planning. But lets see how that goes. Another reason why I should catch up with work - I can ask my manager for time off.
Ideally I want to go during the cricket world cup to catch the world cup fever and the summer, buy cricket kit, come back rested and relaxed for the start of the season and get a move on towards finding THE job.
6. The D thing.
7. Licence + Car - Do this ASAP. This has taken me way too much time. Ideally I should get this done before January. Get a cheap car for now and get a classy car once you move to the destination of THE job.
8. Think about the MBA option all the time. 2012 should be the year when I start acting on this. But all this has got to lead me to that.
9. Community service - Surprisingly, this is something I have been trying to get into but something or the other always stops me. Do some major good deed before the year ends.
In general, this is the year I've been waiting for a long time. Its time to be positive, confident and start acting. Remove all sources of negative influences and gear up life towards making 2011 a solid, fun, relaxing, happy, unforgettable year.
I am starting this blog to refect upon the eventful year that was 2010 and to set myself some targets for 2011. The aim right now is to update this blog periodically to keep track of where I am with respect to my targets and to reflect upon the journey itself through 2011.

The Year 2010 in My Life - A Recap
2010 was a very important year in my life. I received my second MS degree, started working full time in a very decent and fairly reputed company, in the process, managed to put a full stop to the PhD question. Whats better is that the company and my role are fairly decent enough to use it as a launch pad for bigger and better things.
Going to the gym regularly used to be my standard new year's resolution that never got fulfilled. Not once. Thankfully, since Nov 6th, I've been working out regularly and am starting to see some results.
I am also done with room mates. Living alone has been quite peaceful and has helped me get my life back on track by giving me the one most important thing in life - a peaceful night's sleep.
It wasn't always this way. The start of the year was sluggish. I spent a fortnight in California living with a friend and looking for a job but to no avail. I came back and rejoined my low paying internship with a hope that perhaps I might get a job sometime or else I can go back home satisfied that I gave it my best shot. To my surprise, I found myself interviewing for another full time job only for it to get converted into an internship.
The offer was tempting and with no end game at sight, it was a lot more money, I wanted to take it up. But I decided to stick with my company hoping that I could convert my internship into a full time position. After a lot of time (5 more months), I finally got my full time job. It was worth the gamble afterall.
Cricket over the summer was nice. I managed to do pretty well and managed to make myself one of the most important members of the team. That was pretty satisfying and has rekindled the hunger to excel within me. That competitive feeling was what led me to finally take work out more seriously.
Overall, it was a slow year but definitely a year positive one. A lot of boxes were checked after almost 1.5 years of not going anywhere in life. In hindsight, it was a year that has set me up really nicely for the future ahead.
